Two gigantic outdoor advertising boards sponsored by a major Kaoliang liquor company placed outside the National Taiwan Normal University sparked controversy. The Vice Minister of Education said that the ads were inappropriate for the university campus. Although there is no specific law banning alcohol ads on university campuses in Taiwan, alcohol companies should be more sensitive about placing ads or starting any sales campaign on or around a campus. Any advertising must comply with marketing codes, and meet global standards of practice for all advertising, marketing, brand innovation, consumer PR and website content.
